Thank you so much for your visit to our school. Our children really enjoyed it and learnt so much! We hope you come again. All the resources and materials you have put together are brilliant and support the children’s learning so well.
Just to let you know that the 150 Anniversary badge design activity (Art & Design) has now been updated and allows the students to use their imaginations to design a badge linked to the biscuit heritage of Reading.
Please let me know if you require any assistance with any of the modules or whether you would like me to come into school at any point.
As this academic year is now in its latter stages we just wanted to touch base and hear about how the school has been able to utilise the Reading FC resources and offer any help with any future planning for 2022-23.
If it would be beneficial, I am happy to meet with any relevant staff to discuss how the website and its content can be used and adapted and would be delighted to view any work completed and/or listen to the views of staff and students about the resources.
We are still offering individual logins for members of staff at your school. Please let me know names and email addresses and I will get them registered.
I hope you enjoyed your break and you have settled into the new school year.
It would be lovely to hear your ideas for using the Fanfare for the Future resources during this 150th Anniversary year.
The plan is to invite all schools participating in the project to the stadium sometime in May 2022 to showcase and celebrate the work completed by students throughout the year.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist with your use of the resources. I am happy to pop in if you feel this will be beneficial and it would be lovely to meet the students and to view any work they have completed. There may also be the opportunity for Reading FC players to be involved with the project and schools.
I hope you have all had a chance to view the resources now available and have also had the opportunity to use some of them with your students.
We will be seeking some feedback during the next few weeks and I will be in touch with each school to hear your thoughts – please look out for my email!
Your feedback will be invaluable as we move through the pilot stage and will also help to shape future projects funded by the Premier League.
If you have any questions about the resources or require any support with them, then please let me know.
It’s lovely to hear that you will be trying out the resources and I look forward to all your feedback. I will be in touch sometime in May to hear all your thoughts. I agree the 150 years celebration makes it special!
I’m just looking at your resources for the first time; they look really great and I’m looking forward to sharing them with our teachers and trying them out. There are so many links to a wide range of curriculum areas so lots to choose from. I know our children will be engaged and of course the theme celebrating 150 years of Reading football club will sure to be a winner.
Thank you
Anna
Thanks for your message and it is lovely to hear about your plans to use the resources. Your feedback on completion will be really useful and appreciated.
The additional resources to be released in March include:
Two history modules:
The Biscuitmen – the focus is on how Reading has changed over time (New Town case study), exploring the changing use of a historical site (Huntley & Palmers) and investigating a local hero (with links to Huntley & Palmers and Reading FC).
War Heroes (Home and Away) – an enquiry into the impact of World War One on people and communities (using the stories of Reading FC players involved in the war and the role of women).
A geography module:
Mark it on the Map – focus is on mapping skills such as symbols, compass and direction, grid references and understanding locational knowledge of the UK.
An Art & Design module:
Going to the Match – a focus on the life and work of L.S. Lowry.
Hope this helps with your planning.
Kind regards,
Julie

Thank you very much for putting these resources together – I can imagine that a lot of time and effort has gone into them. They look like they will be very useful and help the children to be engaged in their local area!
I will be using the resources as a joint Geography and History topic with Year 4 about our local area in the upcoming term. We will begin by looking at modern maps of Reading and then attempting to draw our own maps. We are then going to look at the Reading FC resources to examine change over time and land use.
I will be sure to give any feedback after I have taught these lessons. On the website it says that more resources are going to be released in March. Do you know what they will focus on?
I’m not sure whether online learning and/or live lessons are allowing you the opportunity to access any of our content and resources. If so, we would be grateful for any feedback you may have.
If not, we look forward to the time when the ever changing situation allows you to try things out.
